Since 2022, the Slovak Cheerleading Union has been a member of both the ICU (International Cheer Union) and the ECU (European Cheer Union).
Team & Performance Cheer
Cheerleading is divided into two categories: Team cheer – a more sports- and acrobatics-focused division, and Performance cheer – a predominantly dance division.
Support for other sports
In addition to their own competitions, cheerleaders collaborate with various sports clubs and help create the atmosphere at sporting events, tournaments, and competitions.

5th place at the World Championships in the USA
Our national team achieved a fantastic 5th place in the finals at the ICU World Cheerleading Championships 2026 in Orlando, Florida. We have thus become the first Slovak national team in history to compete at the World Championships in the USA.
European Champions 2024 in Sport Cheerleading
Huge achievement for Slovak cheerleading! Our national team, SLOVAK CHEER TEAM, is bringing the European gold home to Slovakia from the 2024 ICU Championships.
Slovak Cheer Team 2024 brought GOLD from the Prague Cheer Open
The debut performance of the Slovak national team in the TEAM CHEER YOUTH COED L3 category at the largest Czech international competition was fantastic, and the representatives won their first gold medals.
DONAU CHEER OPEN 2024
A historic milestone: the first-ever cheerleading competition in Slovakia to be included in the European Cheer League (ECL). 615 athletes from 9 different European countries competed in 124 routines for medals at Bratislava's House of Sport (Dom športu). The event was a resounding success, receiving excellent feedback for its organizational, technical, and staffing excellence.
Leaders in Inclusion and ParaCheer
SCU is among the pioneers in the development of the ParaCheer section (athletes with disabilities). Our achievements in this area are also highly regarded on the international stage.

SCU was unanimously accepted as a full member of the International Cheer Union at the ICU General Assembly in Orlando, Florida.

The first-ever Slovak Republic Championships in sport cheerleading took place on December 4, 2022, in Zvolen, even featuring international participation!
2021 | Establishment of the Slovak Cheerleading Union
We are pleased to announce that on 18 October 2021, the sports organization Slovak Cheerleading Union was established and approved—pursuant to Section 8(1) of Act No. 440/2015 Coll. on Sports and on the amendment and supplementation of certain acts—with the legal form of a civic association established under Act No. 83/1990 Coll. on the Association of Citizens, as amended.

SCU – recognized national sports association
The Slovak Cheerleading Union has, since 26.9.2023, been a sports organization pursuant to Section 8(1) of Act No. 440/2015 Coll. on Sport and on Amendments to Certain Acts, having the legal form of a civic association established under Act No. 83/1990 Coll. on Association of Citizens, as amended (hereinafter referred to as the "Union"), which performs the tasks of a national sports federation in the territory of the Slovak Republic.
The Slovak Cheerleading Union was accepted as a full member of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOŠV) on 23.5.2025.
The seat of the union is: Zvolen 960 01, Novozámocká 3212/22. The union is a member of the international sports organization European Cheer Union and International Cheer Union.
